This css demo allows you to load new style sheets into the same page to show you how flexible style sheet design can be.
To do this with old style tables would require making a new page for each style … something that in the real world would be slow & expensive!
What is css?
Cascading style sheets or css is the modern method for determining the layout and styling of your webpage. It's not a completely different animal, but web design how it was intended to be rather than what "everyone else does".
To the layman there is no visible difference between tables and css layout, to be honest without looking at a pages code it's impossible to be sure how it was made … but if you saw 2 identical cars next to each other, without driving them or opening the bonnet you couldn't tell which is fastest.
This css demo is intended to show you how designing in this way makes for fast loading, flexible sites, not bound by a single designers vision of how it should look at the expense of how it should be.
Before viewing the demo you are urged to take a free download of a css compliant browser from the list below, at Devolved we use Firefox as it's proven to be quicker, safer and more useful than the windows standard Internet explorer.
Using Internet Explorer 6 or lower, you will be able to view the different styles, but the hidden styles and some of the more subtle effects available in css won't be viewable to you.
